THE PROCESS

Brief
Design Development

PHASE ONE

YOUR ENQUIRY

The process starts with a client’s enquiry. We arrange an initial zoom call with you to discuss your requirements, how much help you need and to answer any questions and outline costs. If you are interested in moving forward, we issue a letter of engagement and arrange a face to face meeting.

VISITING THE PROPERTY

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

Our first in person visit is a ‘get to know you’ process. We look at the clues your home/office/commercial premises offer as to your taste and style and discuss how you want to feel in the space. We also ask questions about how you will use and who will be using the rooms. We take measurements, discuss layout challenges, understand what furniture pieces you are retaining or changing and bring colour and fabric samples to gauge likes and dislikes.

To better understand you, we start with a collaborative Pinterest page asking you to share visuals of room and spaces you like. We then discuss furniture and fabric styles as well as materials, colour schemes and layouts and provide you with a document for you to choose from.

When you have selected the preferred colours and we have agreed layouts and design styles, we begin the process of collating all ideas and materials culminating in a power point presentation with detailed recommendations on lighting, window dressings, carpentry, flooring and furniture pieces. The presentation is accompanied by a board of samples of fabrics and finishes.  This process takes typically 3-4 weeks.

During the interior design process, we ask our trusted team of trades to quote on aspects of work required in the design – from minor building work, to moving radiators, building wardrobes, decorating, plumbing, window dressings, flooring and electrical work. At this stage quotes are estimates until the design is finalised.

DESIGN PRESENTATION

The presentation takes place in person and is the opportunity to showcase the ideas for each room. We present two different looks per room per colour scheme – each look comes with pricing so you have a broader spectrum choice.  At the end of the presentation, you are sent the document in full for review.

POST PRESENTATION

In the week after the presentation, we ask the client to review the document and send back to us an edited version keeping/deleting pages that are/are not of interest. As part of the design fee, we allow two rounds of revisions and re-selections. Once we have arrived at a final design, we create a full excel budget breakdown for your approval which highlights where we have been able to save you money by being able to source items via trade only suppliers.

PHASE TWO

REALISATION

Upon sign off of the budget, we issue invoices to commence sourcing and purchasing. The project management/realisation of the design can take a couple of months subject to the scope of the project. During this phase, we are responsible for briefing and overseeing all trades, ordering all furniture and fabrics, managing deliveries and returns, quality control, staging and styling.
